Jenn-Air was founded in 1947 by Louis Jenn. They were particularly strong in cooking and created the convection and downdraft market in the US. In the 1990s, they were acquired by the rapidly imploding Maytag company. Whitrlpool acquired Maytag in 2004 and poured 30 million into the brand mostly in cooking.
Whether you should buy Jenn-Air depends on what product, category and even timing of their rebates. The companys offerings span the gamut from affordable luxury products like slide-ins and counter depth refrigerators. They also have luxury appliances like Pro ranges, Wi-Fi wall ovens and Built in refrigerators.
Their biggest competitor in affordable luxury is their own sister brand, KitchenAid. They share many of the same products like refrigerators, dishwashers and slide-in ranges. You should always check pricing between the two brands.
On the luxury side, their Wi-Fi wall oven and 7 inch LCD screen with intuitive programming could be the best on the market. Their Pro ranges are very competitive in features with decent prices.
So it depends whether you should buy Jenn-Air.
